bad: i still can’t like…actually USE it, so I’m still stuck with my phone and my barely functional netbook for a) troubleshooting research and b) Black Friday shopping, which I kind of need to do now that replacing my computer and netbook have become even more urgent and I’m also trying to replace my mom’s shitty computer as a big combination Christmas gift with my sister
also bad: i really was planning to do a bunch of other things today, but most of them either require a functioning computer or otherwise are a way lower priority than trying to make my computer function, sooooo
????: I still have no idea what’s wrong, but I did learn from getting into Setup that one of one of the CPU fans was running below 600 RPM for a while and that might be bad? but the overall temperature never went into the red and that one fan is running more normally now so…coincidence, maybe?? although given that I’m not sure yet what my next steps should be, I guess it couldn’t hurt to open the case and see how badly dusty it is since I haven’t done that in uh…a long time…

Hey btw if you don’t know how to program, you should check out [novelty], which is a free Visual Novel creation software. Absolutely no programming required, and it’s super easy to use, I played with it some when I was a teen but the only reason I didn’t do much with it is cuz I made my story complicated and had like 5000 different branching routes that kept spawning new routes and made myself confused LMAO
But yeah, it’s a WYSIWYG with a really straight-forward GUI, if I remember correctly.
It even comes with some free backgrounds and characters and stuff, and this is what it looks like:
Did I mention it’s super duper free? It hasn’t been updated since 2010, but it has basically all you’d need to make a simple visual novel.
Just make sure your DirectX runtime is updated, cuz it can act buggy if it’s outdated, but this program is so old that I doubt it’d even be an issue lol

They are literally books you can play. You can even insert your own character’s name and pronouns and that would make writing reader inserts so much easier And as a writer who can not art, writing and making dating sims and games is more convenient.
The coding is also super simple and easy to learn and all it requires other than the program files is a text editor. And just like that you can start typing up like you would your own fanfics or stories. Plus it’s very versatile so you can make your game/book as simple or as complicated as you want, and even implement stats and inventory systems.
AND CHOICE SCRIPT IS ALSO SUPER DUPER FREE. THE COMPANY EVEN PUBLISHES YOUR FINISHED GAME FOR YOU AND GIVES YOU ROYALTIES IF YOU CHOOSE TO SELL IT. so that’s…a fun way to end Thanksgiving
Tried restoring to an earlier point, that didn’t work either, and the best part is I have no idea if I even have a boot/recovery disc/drive because I dug through the only place that would make any sense for me to keep one and couldn’t find anything so that’s super fucking great. I mean I should have my Windows 7 disc somewhere but APPARENTLY Past Me decided not to put it with LITERALLY ALL MY OTHER COMPUTER STUFF so WHO FUCKING KNOWS what I need to do now. My head hurts and I still want to break things.
Fuck this, I’m going to bed, I’ll try to figure something out tomorrow I guess
