He was losing. Loki could tell that much: Scrapper-142 was better than he was, and he was out of practice, embarrassingly rusty after three years of idleness. Well, his answer to losing had always been to cheat.
He’d never tried the spell before. But she was a Valkyrie, the last, and if he could distract her for just a moment to gain the upper hand – some part of him felt vaguely filthy using something of this working’s providence. But it was the first tool that came to mind that might be vicious enough to work, and no one had ever accused Loki of having too much in the way of scruples.
He slammed his palm into her forehead, wove the magic into a spike, and–
Loki knew the second he struck that it had gone wrong. That he’d done something wrong. He tried to stop but the working had already finished, and there was no time to brace himself for the backlash.
Headcanon that, when the Asgardians settle on Earth and start getting access to Earth-tech and whatnot, Loki genuinely can never tell if Valkyrie is always drunk texting him or if she just can’t figure out her phone but either way it’s hilarious.
