to do this weekend, because I am incapable of planning or figuring anything out unless I make lists:

  • finish and mail my one outstanding Etsy order (biggest obstacle: Will The Printer Work)
  • write and mail any other postcards and/or letters to voters I plan to do for Espy’s runoff election Nov. 27, because if I wait any longer they’ll probably be late
  • leave more voicemails for legislators, I’m sure there’s something I need to yell at them about
  • do a WHOLE BUNCH of research on computer purchases I plan to make in the near future, because apparently that kind of thing is going to get more expensive soon thanks to our shithead president’s dipshit tariffs BUT ALSO Black Friday and Cyber Monday are coming up VERY SOON and it would be a very good idea to try to take advantage of those. specifically:
    • a cheap new desktop for my mom, because hers barely functions anymore and I want to chew off my own arm every time I have to use it for any kind of troubleshooting, and maybe there would be ways to decrudify it to get some more use out of it but honestly that sounds…much more difficult and time-consuming (although I imagine I’ll still be responsible for moving all her files, and that should be lots of fun)
    • upgrades for my desktop, which at this point means basically everything except the case, sound card, and (I hope) hard drive. do I know what I’m doing? no!!! do I even know the best place to buy parts? also no because when I did this six years ago I ordered everything from Newegg and I think I had some kind of free trial of their prime membership or whatever that meant shipping was free, and I have no idea what their shipping is like now
    • a new netbook, because mine is probably as old as my desktop and significantly less functional
  • make examples for at least a few other Etsy items I’d like to have available before the holidays, which ideally I would’ve done a while ago but I was focusing on the election
  • try to adjust the new harness I bought for Hazy, because one of Scully’s fits but her back in particular is the same color as his was and that uh. doesn’t feel great. researching/buying a different harness is also an option
  • try to do some training at home? I have no idea what I’m doing though so I should just sign up for actual training. also, get final adoption paperwork I guess, not sure what’s involved in that
  • maybe bring Hazy to my sister’s place so she can meet and play with another dog? depends on various schedules, obviously
  • TYPE. UP. MY. DAMN. NOTEBOOKS. actually getting everything out of the “typed up from notebooks” documents and into fic documents would also be a REAL GOOD IDEA because then I could actually figure out, you know, where I’m at with my current WIPs and which one I should focus trying to finish for November
  • submit pet insurance claims for Scully’s last few visits; this can probably wait a bit longer but I really shouldn’t wait much more if, you know, I want to be reimbursed, which I very much do
  • NoiseTrade downloads, because right now I have a bunch open in tabs and my computer hates that
  • leave some very belated comments on fic
  • low priority but should happen at some point: repost recent fics on FFN

…I feel like I’m forgetting something and this is probably already not super realistic, especially considering it’s already 12:30 >_<

Hey all! Resident suffering grad student here!

I have put together a survey that I would appreciate if you took the time to fill out. The survey is part of a research methods class and takes about 10 minutes to complete.

The survey will ask you questions related to coming out and the internet. Responses are entirely voluntary, and you may refuse to complete any part or all of this survey.

Please follow this link to participate!

Looking for some terror-filled treats to play this halloween?  We’ve got you covered.  Here are ten of our favourite horror games we’ve featured over the last year.  Have a delightful and frightful halloween!

Play With Me – a terrifying first person horror in which you attempt to escape from a house that’s haunted by a very freaky clown ghost.

Letter To A Friend – a freaky first person horror that draws inspiration from old silent movies and analogue recordings to create a short, surreal and very scary experience.

Pictures of a Reasonably Documented Year – You find an old computer and investigate the files on it. Was the owner insane or was something sinister really going on?

Never Look Back – a well crafted lovecraftian point and click adventure in which you face your inner demons and attempt to escape a nightmarish mansion.

The House Abandon – an intense text based adventure created by one of the Alien Isolation devs, in which the environment you’re playing in reacts around you – so much so that we guarantee that you’ll look over your own shoulder a few times while playing it!

Ghost City Rising – a fun first person roguelite in which you attempt to scale a high rise apartment block that’s packed full of haunted furniture!

The Final One – a very creepy (and unintentionally weird) FPS horror adventure in which you attempt to uncover the occult mysteries surrounding a doll museum in which all the exhibits have started to come to life!

Anxiety: Lost Night – a point-and-click horror game in which you play as a young woman who, after experiencing some sort of panic attack, finds her car has stalled at the side of the road. Can you get it started?

POWER DRILL MASSACRE – an absolutely terrifying third person survival horror that draws inspiration from 80’s video nasty slasher flicks and PS1-era survival horror games to create a grimy, sinister, suspense-filled adventure that’s unlike anything you’ve ever experienced.

The Room – a jump scare filled low rez first-person horror game, in which you must navigate ten rooms, and use an Aliens-style motion detector to avoid invisible monster (invisible until it jumps out and scares the living daylights out of you anyway).

Hope you have a frightful night!

Smash that mf reblog button if you stoically ignore all labelled washing instructions and everything your mama ever told you about laundry and just send those bastards hurgling around in an overfilled tub to meet either death or glory

Something I learned from a costume designer: if an item can be washed multiple ways the designer is only legally obligated to put one of the ways on the tag, but if there’s only one way to wash that item they have to put Only on the instructions

If the tag says “Dry Clean” it’s safe to machine wash but the designer thinks it looks better if you get it dry cleaned

But if it says “Dry Clean Only” you will destroy it if you wash it any other way

Reblogging for that last bit which this 37 yr old adult did not lnowy

Oh, btw cus I haven’t seen any posts about it yet, the 2018 asexual census survey is up, and people should defiantly go take it so that we can continue to have up to date information on community demographics.

You can find it here if you’re interested

Why? Why is demographic information so important?

Demographic information, and other information gathered by this survey can help us recognize and address community needs, gain funding for ace community issues, and help us improve research on asexuality.

If I’m trying to fund a group for ace sexual assault survivors, then I want hard numbers to show potential donors that will make them say “yes, this is a problem that I should put money twords”

If I’m doing research on the intersection between trans-antagonism and ace-antagonism then it helps to be able to access data on how many ace people identify as trans/GNC befor I start my research, so I can understand the scale of what I’m looking at.

Demographic information is important for a lot of things and the people who run the ace census very graciously synthesize and provide that information for us for free, so while no one is under any obligation to take the survey, I do highly suggest that you do whether you’re ace or not (they need comparative data as well). They do important work and if you have the time it’s good to participate.
